May 30, 2008, Newsletter Issue #62: How Do You Convert WAV Files to MP3 Format?

Tip of the Week

Shopping.com Tip: WAV or .wav files are an older file format, and were based on the PCM or pulse code modulation method of encoding data. As .wav files are larger than MP3 files, this format has declined in popularity.

There are many programs available for free on the web that will convert from .wav to MP3 and back - one such program is from River Past.  It is free, and requires that you have a PC with a processor faster than 500MHz, and Direct X 8.0 installed.  It also requires that you have an audio card.

Your MP3 music player may or may not support WAV files, but it does make sense to convert if you want to store the maximum amount of music possible on your player.
